Facial Thread Vein Removal.

Thread Veins (also known as spider veins or talangiecstasia) are small blood vessels under the skin. Thread veins are caused by natural and environmental factors such as; environmental exposure (cold or sun exposure), ageing, acne, some medIcations or hormonal factors, such as the menopause or pregnancy.

Ellipse IPL Laser is one of the signature treatments offered at Lesley Leale-Green. We are able to target and effectively treat a wide range of skin conditions; including broken veins, rosacea, skin redness, uneven skin tone and pigmentation.

The staff were great, really friendly and professional from arrival. My therapist was so welcoming and I felt very comfortable talking to her beforehand. Looking forward to going back again soon and highly recommend.-2.png

How Does IPL Work

Our IPL Laser Vascular Lesions treatment (thread vein removal), utilises the latest FDA approved technology to safely and effectively provide a solution for removing facial vascular imperfections; such as facial thread veins and red spots.

This advanced IPL treatment works by delivering an intense pulsed light beneath the skins surface. The specifically selected wavelengths target the haemoglobin found within the blood. The light emitted from the IPL is absorbed by the haemoglobin within the vessels (veins) and heats them to the point of coagulation. The vessels following treatment are absorbed by the body’s lymphatic system, where it is carried away as a waste product.

what results should be expected?

Following treatments, vessels will quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body through the lymphatic system; resulting in little-to-no trace of the original vein. Skin tone will appear more even and the complexion healthier and brighter.

how many sessions are required?

Typically, 2-3+/- treatments are required for a maximum effect. However, smaller veins and vascular lesions may only require one session. Repeat treatments are usually scheduled at 4-6 weekly intervals.

is ipl safe?

Yes. The IPL Laser only targets the haemoglobin chromophores in the vessels, leaving the surrounding skin and tissue unharmed. You may experience some mild erythema immediately after treatment however, this is normal and will subside shortly after. Your laser specialist will ensure you are aware of your pre and post care, at every appointment.

what happens after treatment?

Following treatment, the area may feel warm for a few hours and slight erythema/redness is seen immediately after the treatment. This will disappear in 1-2hours, or in some cases a few days. Particularly delicate areas such as cheeks and décolleté can be slightly swollen for up to 48hrs. If there is any pigmentation in the area, it will turn darker after the treatment, creating a light crust and will ‘slough-off’ within the next 7-10days.

will i need a patch test?

Absolutely. Before, your first treatment at Lesley Leale-Green, it is a mandatory requirement of treatment, to participate in a full health history, consultation and patch test. At this stage, you will be able to ask your laser specialist any questions you may have and discover more about the treatment process.
